We’re kicking off 2026 strong 🚀, and we hope you are too! To help your business scale, automate, and create even better experiences, here are the latest updates from January 2026.
🆕 Meet our AI providers Hub
We make you can now test and run with over 20+ AI Models for Image generation with almost no code change. Just define the model, or leave it to us to apply the default one.
Picsart will make sure to add the best new models from different vendors and remove the need to do new integrations for each.
Picsart GenAI API launches the AI Hub with 20+ models for image, sticker and logo generations.
And surely, we continue improving our Image API product for e-commerce and marketing:
🔹 Smart Crop
Use prompts to define which parts to crop. Not only you remove the need to provide specific pixels to crop, or have important parts cut out because of the automatic center-crop, you can also use prompt-guided tools to control the process. This also lets reusing the same image to sell multiple products on your store (e.g. imagine cutting hat, boots, jacket and other products from the same image).

🔹 Selective Blur (e.g. face, or car plate)
How hard was it to blur faces or car plates so you can publish images on your image before? Now it's an API call away. Just use the segment name to get control: foreground, background, hat, faces, car plate, and it will do the job automatically.
🔹 Image Remove Background Model Upgrade (v10)
The latest model version urn:air:picsart:model:picsart:sod@10 is now made the default version. The previous version urn:air:picsart:model:picsart:sod@9 is now deprecated and removed from the platform.

December 2025 Updates
🔹 Image Slideshow (Video, GIF)
Video Concat API is now upgraded to support image inputs as well. Now you can use this to create a slideshow of images, or mix images and videos to get the final result.

Remove Backgrounds from videos and replace with either a solid color or an image.

🔹 Image Remove Background Model Upgrade
Image Remove Background's AI Model has got another major boost.
- It understands complex scenes better — ideal, for example, for your car photos, even when two vehicles are in the frame.
- It delivers cleaner edges, sharper foregrounds, and handles shadows and dark areas much more reliably (e.g., wheels).
- It also introduces an optional text prompt, so you can guide the model - like “keep the front car” when needed (limited accessibility, contact support).
We are launching the new model under beta and it can be optionally enabled by the model parameter.
🔹 Image Segmentation
This new API lets you perform multi-matting segmentation on the input image, identifying and isolating specific classes like hair, clothes, or sky.

October 2025 Updates
🔹 MCP support
An important and much needed addition to our Creative platform for developers and not only. Meet Picsart Creative APIs MCP.
MCP is an open standard that allows AI applications to securely access external data sources and tools. The Picsart Creative APIs MCP server provides AI agents with:
- Direct API access to Picsart Enterprise API Documentation functionality
- Documentation search capabilities
- Real-time data from your Picsart Enterprise API Documentation account
- Code generation assistance for Picsart Enterprise API Documentation integrations
🔹 Fade/Opacity for Effects
The Effects API is improved to allow effect fading. Use fade to control the level. 0 means no fade (default) and 100 means it's disabled. Note that some effects do not support fade.

You can now transcribe audio and video files in TXT format. Stay tuned for SRT, VTT, and SBV support (coming soon). 57 languages are supported.

Video Edit API is now upgraded to allow compression options for export. Use max_size_mb, quality, codec, audio_codec, frame_rate and bitrate to control the output quality and file size.

You can now use the Video Edito API to convert video formats as well. Supported formats are MOV, MP4, WEBM, GIF.

Starting in June 2024, we are refining our use of HTTP status codes to improve clarity and compliance. Previously, the 429 status code was used to indicate both rate limit excess and depletion of client credits. With the latest update, the 429 code will solely represent rate limit violations, as originally intended. For scenarios where a client has used all their pre-purchased credits or reached a subscription limit without an enabled overdraft, the 402 "Payment Required" status code will now be returned. This change ensures that responses more accurately reflect the specific nature of the access issue, allowing clients to better understand and resolve their service interactions.
